Products from Bytechaser

Building a useful product means working through hundreds of decisions about people, information and how the service will run. FoodACN and CookGuide are two examples of that work at Bytechaser.

CookGuide

Cooking instructions that are easier to access, with useful insight for food brands.

The problem
On-pack cooking instructions have to fit a small space, in one language and one size of print. Customers who struggle to read them, or who cook differently, are left guessing. Brands rarely find out how their products are actually prepared.
The product's response
A QR code on the pack opens a digital guide with the relevant cooking options, accessible display settings and multiple languages. Brands publish guides through a controlled workflow and can see how they're used.
My involvement
I led the planning, product design, technical design and development, working through how instructions are written, checked, published and presented.
What it shows about approaching a project
Connecting customer instructions, accessible presentation, business insight and a controlled publishing workflow into one service, where each part depends on the others.

FoodACN

A professional network built around people working in food.

Draft · Real FoodACN screenshot needed (shipped features only).
The problem
People working in food are spread across production, safety, quality, kitchens and hospitality. General networks don't reflect how the industry is organised or what its people need from each other.
The product's response
A focused network that brings professional profiles, organisations, industry information and opportunities together, shaped around the different needs of individual members and the organisations they work for.
My involvement
I led the planning, product design, technical design and development, from how profiles and organisations relate to how information is shared.
What it shows about approaching a project
Designing a specialist service around several kinds of user at once, and making practical decisions about what to build first.
